Pavel Gossip Line
Summarized from PBFC newsletter

  • Pavel's first play-off goal of the '93 season (a game-winner) came in Game Two, a backhander over the shoulder of a sprawling Bob Essensa, breaking a 2-2 tie as the Canucks defeated the Jets 3-2.
  • Of Bure's goal, Pat Quinn claims 'There are 500 guys in the game and there's only three or four guys that are able to score that goal', while the more modest Bure offered, 'It was a nice pass from Greg Adams'.
  • Last season in seven play-off games, Pavel notched five goals against the Jets; this season Pavel scored four times (with three assists) in a six-game series.
  • Last month's PBFC meeting at the Newton Library, with Igor Larionov as the guest speaker, was by far the largest turn-out of the year, with more than 150 fans in attendance. The club also broke the 100-member mark when the ever-popular, play-by-play announcer, Jim Robson guested the meeting in February.
  • When asked if he would ever wear a Canuck jersey again, Igor replied, 'It would be nice to be reunited with Pavel and I certainly enjoyed playing in Vancouver, but if I do return to the NHL, I belong to the San Jose Sharks. For the time, it's certainly not possible to return to Vancouver.
