Pavel Gossip Line
Summarized from PBFC newsletter

  • It's not the first time a Vancouver Canuck has been selected to an NHL All-Star first team by fans, but 175,030 of his fans voted Pavel to represent the Western Division at the 45th All-Star Game at Madison Square Gardens on January 22nd.
  • Pavel placed fifth overall in balloting behind Gretzky, Potvin, Chelios and Hull.
  • Is Pavel's pal Gino Odjick on target for 20 goal season? You bet. With 12 markers in the first 36 games, Gino is actually on pace for a 28 goal season. One of his more exciting goals was during the 8-4 loss in Calgary when he and pal Pavel Bure flicked the switch 15 seconds apart to build an early 3-1 lead. Not a team record though. Ralph Seward and Rick Blight turned that trick in only seven seconds October 19, 1976 versus Islanders.
  • Pavel's younger brother Valeri is currently playing with Russia at the World Junior Championships. So far he has assited on the tying goal against Canada and then bagged two goals against the United States team in his very next game.
  • It looks like Pavel has finally shrugged the flu bug that has been haunting him and is finally playing at full strngth again.
