The Soviet Union moved into the gold medal game of the Goodwill Games with a 4-1 vitory over Sweden. Tomas Forslund opened scoring for Sweden with a goal at 8:43 of the first period. Vjastcheslav Kozlov tied the game at 14:33, and Andrei Kovalenko scored the winning goal at 1:54 of the third period. Pavel Bure then added two insurance goals.
