Pavel Gossip Line
Summarized from PBFC newsletter
- April 2: Pavel began practicing with his Canuck teammates.
- April 27: The Canucks lost to Colorado Avalanche, ending this season's bid for the Stanley Cup. (The Avalanche have since defeated Chicago in the Western Conference Semi-Final series).
The loss also stopped any chance of Pavel returning this season toplay NHL hockey.
Pavel says he will put the brakes on his rehab program now that the Canucks have been eliminated and won't start again until he gears up for the Russian Worl Cup training camp in August.
"I'd love to play in the World Cup, but it depends on my knee", said Pavel.
- Quite a few members have enquired about the promised book and video on Pavel that should have been released by now. They have not been released as yet. With Pavel not playing, it would be poor marketing to release a book or vido on him at this time. A better time would be when he's flying, scoring tons of goals and with his name in the papers every day.

Pavel skating again
Rehabilitation seems to be going splendid for Pavel since his recent MRI which convinced doctors to allow Pavel to resume skating after three months of inactivity.
The prognosis still seems to point to an extremely small possibility of a return during the middle of the playoffs.
Although the official statement from the PR department of the Canucks is that Pavel is out for the season, his return is governed by two factors: - His speed of recovery (which seems to be above average)
- His release to play by the Canuck medical staff, Dr. Ross Davidson in particular.
Davidson is the man who gives the final yes or no to play, and only he knows when that will be.
For us to second guess as to when Pavel is going to return would be a disservice to Davidson's medical knowledge and to Pavel. A too early return may ruin Pavel's entire career.
Everyone would be delighted if Pavel returned for the play-offs but unless he is at 100% he could be both a marked man and a liability at a time when every game is critical.
From a visual perspective, Pavel's knee looks healthy but the healing process is still taking place inside the knee.
The medical staff of the Canucks will make the final decision with Pavel and until we hear from them, there is still no news.
